SHAH ALAM, Nov 22 — The Jelajah Ehsan Rakyat initiative organized by the state government has recorded over RM10 million in Sales, from September to the start of the month.

Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) chief executive officer Mohamad Khairil Mohamad Razi said the revenue is an encouraging indication of the initiative’s success in easing the spending burden of hundreds of thousands of state residents.

“The affordable sale of basic necessities has benefitted some 250,000 residents, many of whom took the opportunity to purchase their groceries. We managed to record up to RM1.3 million in sales value a week.

“In fact, we are issuing over RM7 million in subsidies, which is one of the measures we have taken to help the people in dealing with the rising costs of living,” he said to SelangorKini yesterday.

The initiative was originally scheduled to run from September 6 to December 6 throughout all 56 state constituencies.

In light of the strong public response, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari announced the initiative will continue until March next year.

Jelajah Ehsan Rakyat offers standard chicken at RM10 per pack, fresh meat at RM10 per pack, Grade B eggs at RM10 per tray, mackerel and selayang fish at RM6 per pack, 5kg cooking oil at RM25, and 5kg of rice at RM10.
