KUALA LANGAT, Nov 7 — Parti Keadilan Rakyat (Keadilan) has nominated its loyal candidates to face off against traitors in the upcoming 15th general election.
Keadilan candidate for the Kuala Langat parliamentary seat Manivanan Gowin said the decision was made by the party’s president and deputy president, after a long and thorough discussion.
He said among the hot seats in GE15 is Gombak, where Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari is contesting, along with other seats in the Klang Valley.
“Both of the top two individuals in Keadilan have decided the traitors must be challenged by a candidate who has the party’s full trust, and who cannot betray the given mandate.
“Such a thing cannot be simply decided on a whim, and we have to apply political strategies by prioritising the people’s mandate,” Manivanan said when met here yesterday.
The Kuala Langat seat was won by Datuk Dr Xavier Jayakumar under the Keadilan ticket in 2018. In March 2021, he left the party and now supports Perikatan Nasional (PN).
Manivanan, a lawyer, will face a six-cornered fight in the parliamentary seat against PN’s Dato’ Dr Ahmad Yunus Hariri, Barisan Nasional’s M Mohana, Parti Pejuang Tanah Air’s Mohd Ridzuan Abdullah, Parti Rakyat Malaysia’s M Ganeskumar, and Independent candidate Zanariah Jumhuri.
Before this, Manivanan served as the Kapar MP from 2013 to 2018.
