GE15: Rodziah opens space for youths to voice their hopes for Ampang

AMPANG, Nov 10 — Pakatan Harapan’s (Harapan) candidate for the Ampang parliamentary seat in the ongoing 15th general election (GE15), Rodziah Ismail, has opened a space for youths in the area to voice out on emerging issues they want resolved.

She said the suggestions and views can be voiced during the conversation with Ampang youths programmes, scheduled to start on Friday (November 11) at several locations.

“We are planning several programmes for all Ampang youths. Programmes where we can talk to them and hear their questions if they have any, or for them to listen to my hopes for them.

“Doing so makes it easier for me to figure out other offers (for the youths of Ampang) asides from Harapan’s action plans which we already have for the nation,” Rodziah said.

She was speaking to the media, after greeting Ampang voters near here yesterday.

The state executive councillor for housing, urban welfare and entrepreneur development asked youths to monitor the programme’s schedule and itinerary that will be updated on social media.

“I expect them to come and propose (views). We know some may be busy with work, but they can see which slot is most suitable (for them) to attend,” she said.

Meanwhile, rap singer Altimet and actor Hans Isaac actively campaigned in Ampang to ensure Harapan regains their stronghold in the 15th general election.

Rodziah was moved by the earnestness of the two celebrities who went around the district to garner support, especially from youths.

“I am grateful in Ampang, we have great figures who can be our voice, such as Altimet, Hans Isaac and a few others that I think are well-known here.

“I do not think it is necessary to wait for me (to campaign), as they can also (help) carry my aspirations in Ampang,” she said.

The candidate said she did not expect the support from the constituency’s residents to be so good during the five days of campaigning, and admitted most voters recognised her as a Harapan candidate.

“I see the people of Ampang understand the (competing) parties that exist. Even when I have not gone out to meet the people yet, people already know I am a Harapan candidate.

“If we say Parti Keadilan Rakyat (Keadilan), perhaps, they will know it better,” she said.

Rodziah, who is also candidate number one on the ballot paper, faces incumbent Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin who is defending her seat under the Parti Bangsa Malaysia ticket.

Zuraida, the former minister of plantation and commodity enterprises held the seat for three terms under Keadilan, but left the party in February 2020.
