Malaysia Cup: Unbeaten Selangor FC, a challenge to TFC

KUALA NERUS, Nov 15 — Terengganu FC (TFC) coach, Nafuzi Zain admitted that Selangor FC’s seven-match unbeaten record under former national head coach, Tan Cheng Hoe is a crucial opponent for the Turtles squad.

Therefore, he reminded the players to stay focused and work harder at the Petaling Jaya City Council Stadium (MBPJ) for the first semi-final match of the Malaysia Cup tomorrow night.

According to him, The Red Giants squad under Cheng Hoe has shown an impressive improvement with a more organised and convincing gameplay that will be tough to any opponent.

“TFC need to be fully prepared because we must expect a grueling 90-minute against Selangor under the guidance of Tan Cheng Hoe.

“With the quality of the players, especially on the wing, it will definitely not be easy for TFC to maintain the winning momentum especially in an away game,” he said when met at a training session at the Gong Badak Sports Complex here, yesterday afternoon.

Besides, Nafuzi also reminded his men to get enough rest to ensure that their highest physical and mental fitness levels for the very important match.

“There is no player injury issue, but there may be a fitness problem because the Malaysia Cup schedule is quite tight from one match to another.

“But I believe the players know how to take care of themselves, we have been through a similar situation during the Super League competition and it is not an obstacle for us to succeed,” he said who has yet to decide on the main eleven squad for tomorrow night.

In the history of Malaysia Cup, the Turtles have only lifted the Malaysia Cup trophy once in 2001, while Selangor had secured 33 titles in the championships, with the last time in 2015.
