SHAH ALAM, Nov 29 — The Smart Selangor Parking (SSP) mobile app has recorded over 2.4 million users at the end of October 2022 and exceeded 26,000 transactions.

State executive councillor for industry and trade Dato’ Teng Chang Khim said that a total RM2.1 million was allocated to develop SSP through a grant from the Selangor state government.

“To date, a total of almost 1.5 million kilograms of paper has been saved through the use of this application.

“The app can also be used in the two-hour parking spots that were introduced by the Subang Jaya City Council in eight selected parking locations starting September 1, 2022.

“Besides that, e-coupons can also be obtained through SSP effective April 1, 2022,” he said.

Teng was responding to Bukit Lanjan state assemblyman Elizabeth Wong Keat Ping, during Question Time at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly sitting, here today.

SSP is an online parking and compound payment application that can be used across 10 local authorities in Selangor, except for Hulu Selangor and Sabak Bernam as the two local governments do not charge for parking.

Launched on July 1, 2018, the app became widely used as the state government, on January 3, abolished on-street parking fees using coin machines or the manual coupon system and enforced e-coupons through the SPP app, which is available on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
