Take advantage of smart technology to upgrade public transport — Exco

SHAH ALAM, Nov 28 — The initiative to adopt smart technologies within the public transport ecosystem is part of the Selangor government’s effort to increase its usage.

State executive councillor for transport Ng Sze Han said that the public transportation system known as Selangor Mobility aims to spearhead the rebranding exercise of the facilities.

He said Selangor Mobility does not centre on trains, buses, taxis or e-hailing transportation but also covers micromobility aspects such as e-scooters, pedestrian walkways as well as transit vans or the Demand-Responsive Transit (DRT) through the intelligent routing software.

“The success of the Smart Selangor Bus proves that the state government is capable of playing a more critical and effective role in increasing the use of public transport.

“Considering the population growth in Selangor, the state government is always committed to improving the people’s quality of life by empowering public transportation,” he said on Facebook.

On November 25, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari introduced the transit van-on-demand services to complete the public transportation ecosystem in the state during the tabling of the 2023 Selangor Budget.
