KLANG, Jan 30 — The Sentosa state constituency plans to implement seven more public facility upgrade projects this year for the comfort of the residents.

Its state assemblyman Dr G Gunaraj said the Selangor Penyayang Project will focus on renovating football fields, road tracks and village roads under the Rural Development (PLB).

“We can propose any upgrading project but I am giving priority to these matters. The project proposal will be approved by the local authority before the contractor is appointed.

“There are currently seven projects that are still awaiting planning approval from the Klang Municipal Council (MPK). I hope it moves quickly,” he said when met at the Sentosa Unity Ponggal celebration which was attended by more than 300 multi-ethnic communities at the community service centre of the Sentosa state constituency, here yesterday.

Meanwhile, Gunaraj informed that three public facility upgrade projects were successfully completed within three weeks last December.

According to him the first three projects involved road tracks in Bukit Tinggi, Klang; Senior Citizens Park (Taman Sentosa) and Zumba Gym.

“The Selangor Penyayang Project is the only project introduced by the state government to be carried out directly without taking a long time. As a representative of the people, I welcome the allocation channelled for the implementation of the project.

Budget 2023 allocates RM28 million under the initiative of the Selangor Penyayang Project as an effort to stimulate the local economy by providing small projects for the benefit of the local people.

Each state constituency is given RM500,000 to carry out infrastructure maintenance and upgrading projects as well as the development of government public facilities including those that do not have annual maintenance allocations.

Besides that, as many as 500 residents around the Sentosa state constituency are targeted to register for the Selangor General Insurance Scheme (Insan) every month.

Gunaraj said they will intensify publicity to the public regarding the free group personal accident insurance policy.

“So far more than 1,000 residents aged 30 days to 80 years have registered for this initiative since it opened in October last year.

“We will ask non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and residents’ associations to further publicise this scheme because it is a very good programme for the people,” he said.

Gunaraj added that his side will also work with NGOs to help residents apply for the scheme online.

“They can come to PKM and be trained so that they can help people register as Insan,” he said.

Insan is a group general insurance cover implemented by the state government agency, Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI for six million Selangor citizens.

Eligibility requirements for applicants are holders of an identification card or My Kid with an address in Selangor, an identification card with a Selangor code or a voter in Selangor.

Registration can also be made through the Wavpay application which can be downloaded from AppStore, Google Play or Huawei App Gallery.
