SHAH ALAM, Feb 10 — The state government is encouraging citizens to take booster doses offered for free at Selcare Clinics.

State executive councillor for public health Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud said the people can get their vaccinations through an appointment or come directly to the clinic.

“It is everyone’s responsibility to take a booster dose because although it cannot prevent Covid-19, it can prevent the infection from getting worse.

“They can contact any Selcare Clinic to get a booster dose either by appointment or directly (walk-in),” she said when contacted.

Meanwhile, Siti Mariah informed that she is discussing the inclusion of a booster dose programme to the Iltizam Selangor Penyayang initiative.

“However, it is quite complicated because it requires many processes, including managing the booking of booster doses.

“It is better to come to Selcare Clinics and get a booster dose because it is easier and you can avoid the worsening of Covid-19 infection,” she said.

Yesterday, the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, who inaugurated the Tanjong Karang Hospital, called on the people to get their first and second booster doses for optimal protection from Covid-19 infection.

The advice from His Royal Highness came following the intensified movement of people due to the switch to endemic phase.

According to the Selangor ruler, physical health, mental health and social well-being are among the things affected by this dangerous epidemic.

“I would like to advise the people not to be complacent in taking care of the physical health of themselves, their family members and the community,” he said.
