RAWANG, Feb 14 — The Rawang state constituency community service centre handed out nearly 4,000 Jom Shopping vouchers to Skim Mesra Usia Emas (SMUE) recipients earlier today.

Special Assistant to the Rawang state assemblyman Ainul Aizura Ahsan said participants who have yet to claim their RM150 shopping voucher are advised to immediately head to the centre to do so.

“Any senior citizens who have reached the age of 60 this year but have yet to register with SMUE, can do so by checking at their respective polling stations.

“If applicants are voters in other areas, then they must head to the service centre of that specific state constituency and register to get a Jom Shopping voucher,” she said.

Ainul Aizura was speaking to SelangorKini during the Jelajah Ehsan Rakyat for Rawang, on the grounds of Masjid Cahaya Iman Bandar Country Homes.

SMUE was first introduced over a decade ago as a gesture of appreciation for Selangor’s elderly populace, with each applicant benefiting from birthday gift vouchers and death benefits.

Starting this year, the value of SMUE vouchers has been increased to RM150, with the same amount also given to Skim Mesra Insan Istimewa (SMIS) participants, with a RM37.5 million allocation.

For Jom Shopping vouchers, the monthly household income eligibility limit has been increased from RM2,000 to RM3,000.

Previously, scheme participants received a RM100 shopping voucher for selected supermarkets during the month of their birth, which they could obtain from their respective state assembly service centres.
