Water supply has fully recovered at 6am — Air Selangor

By Sulyn Chong

SHAH ALAM, Feb 14 — The water supply for seven Air Selangor regions has been fully recovered at 6am today.

In a statement, Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) said the water supply for Petaling (369 areas), Gombak (278 areas), Hulu Selangor (30 areas), Klang & Shah Alam (189 areas), Kuala Langat (3 areas) and Kuala Selangor (168 areas) has been fully restored.

“The areas were affected due to the temporary shutdown of four water treatment plants (WTP) namely Rantau Panjang WTP, Sungai Selangor Phase 1 WTP (SSP1 WTP), Sungai Selangor Phase 2 WTP (SSP2 WTP) and Sungai Selangor Phase 3 WTP (SSP3 WTP).

“Air Selangor would like to thank consumers for their patience and cooperation during this unscheduled water supply disruption period,” it said.

Consumers can refer to all official communication channels including Air Selangor app, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, or call the Air Selangor Contact Centre at 15300. They can also view the list of affected areas at https://hentitugas.airselangor.com/ and the Air Selangor app.

On Saturday (February 11) at 9.45pm, a diesel-like odour was detected at the intake of all four WTPs, necessitating a temporary shutdown. By 1.30am on Sunday, raw water began to be pumped into the Rantau Panjang WTP and into the SSP1, SSP2, and SSP3 WTPs by 2.15am, after a threshold odour number of zero was recorded three times in a row.

Following this, the water supply began to be distributed in stages at 6.30am. Water tankers have been mobilised to provide assistance during this period of unscheduled water disruption.
