SHAH ALAM, March 3 — The second edition of the Selangor Halal International Conference (Selhac), which commence on March 10, has seen close to 200 industry players sign up to participate.

State executive councillor for halal industry Mohd Zawawi Ahmad Mughni said preparations for the event are now in their final stages, and encouraged more traders to join.

“I invite all, including halal industry players, to participate in this conference as it features many beneficial programmes, including business matching, exhibits, seminars, and forums to share information on marketing and supplying.

“For the conference this year, the cluster with the most exhibits is food and beverages, compared to pharmaceuticals, self-care, beauty, and tourism,” he said.

Mohd Zawawi was speaking at the state-level launch of the Menu Rahmah initiative at Restoran Deli Thai in Section 7, earlier today.

Prior to this, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari had said Selhac features six components, including business forums, Islamic finance, exhibits, halal supply chains, and digital marketing.

He said Selhac, which aims to achieve RM50 million in business matches, will encompass the clusters of food and beverages, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, polite fashion, raw materials and halal ingredients, beauty, as well as tourism and hospitality.

The exhibition will also provide space for industry players to explore business opportunities, expand their products’ marketing, as well as to collaborate with one another.

The inaugural Selhac was held in March last year, at the Shah Alam Convention Centre, with over 200 exhibitors taking part and recorded an estimated RM37.73 million in transactions.
