MB calls on Selangor to raise collective spirit, strengthening state – Federal administrative relationship

SHAH ALAM, April 23 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari has encouraged the people of Selangor to raise the spirit of togetherness for the state’s drive towards progress, prosperity, and welfare.

Citing the state government’s initiative to extend Hari Raya Aidilfitri financial assistance to Federal civil servants, he said he hopes doing so will strengthen the relationship between Selangor and the central administration, and as such empower services to the people.

“For the first time in Selangor’s history, we have also extended RM200 in financial assistance to Federal civil servants earning less than RM3,000 (monthly), in conjunction with this year’s Aidilfitri.

“With the spirit of togetherness that we have shown, we hope it will strengthen the relationship between the state government and the Federal government, streamlining and ensuring our delivery (of services) is effective to the community and society,” Amirudin said, adding that he believes the spirit of togetherness is also a pillar of any state’s success.

In his Hari Raya Aidilfitri special address in a Facebook post yesterday, the Menteri Besar also advised the cultural practice of visiting the homes of friends and family ought to be upheld so the bonds of fellowship are maintained.

“Aidilfitri is celebrated in Malaysia and Selangor in a fairly merry atmosphere, wherein we usually visit the homes of one another or organise open house events.

“This will certainly encourage friends and relatives to visit each other, and one must certainly ensure this noble practice be upheld,” he said.

Prior to this, Amirudin said Selangor’s ability to provide special Aidilfitri incentives to state and Federal civil servants is largely driven by its successful revenue collection performance during the first three months of 2023.
