SUBANG JAYA, April 14 — Seven mosques and 23 suraus in the Subang Jaya state constituency received over RM30,000 in donations for the ongoing Ramadan fasting month.

Its state assemblyman Michelle Ng Mei Sze said the donations via the Ihya’ Ramadan programme are meant for the houses of worship to carry out a variety of religious activities during this time.

“The funds were distributed last week, with each mosque receiving RM2,000 and each surau receiving RM1,000,” she said, after her visit to inspect the construction of a concrete path at the SS19 playground, earlier today.

Ng said a total of RM300,000 has been donated to mosques and suraus in Subang Jaya since 2018, to repair its amenities and facilities including roof replacements and purchasing carpets.

For this year, the State Government through Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI has allocated nearly RM3 million for Ihya’ Ramadan.

The funds cover mosque and surau donations, as well as distribution to asnaf (tithe recipients) and to organise fast-breaking meals with residents.
