SHAH ALAM, April 9 — State shooting athlete Haritz Iklil Hessly Hafiz has emerged as the recipient of the highest incentive awarded by Selangor, for his performance in the Malaysian Games (Sukma) last year.

Receiving RM24,000 for the individual category, the 23-year-old garnered four gold medals and broke three national records during the 20th Sukma. He said the award and incentive money from the state government came as an unexpected surprise.

Alhamdulillah, I feel this is like duit raya for my family and me, since Hari Raya Aidilfitri is on the horizon.

“I will buy gifts for my parents and the rest will be saved for the future,” he told SelangorKini.

Haritz Iklil was one of the 687 athletes, officials and coaches who attended the Selangor contingent’s victory incentives ceremony on Friday (April 7), held at Dewan Raja Muda Musa in the Selangor Youth and Culture Complex.

State executive councillor for sports Mohd Khairuddin Othman was on hand to present the awards and incentive money.

Meanwhile, swimming coach Marilyn Chua thanked the State Government for providing the incentives, which she said has fueled her determination to bring Selangor glory.

“Thank you for appreciating the efforts of the athletes and everyone involved in Sukma.

“Currently, we have started training for Sukma next year, and I will use this reward money to continue improving the performance of subordinates,” she said.

Selangor’s swimming team received the highest group incentive at RM126,900 after they garnered nine gold, 10 silver and eight bronze medals in the 20th Sukma.
