KUALA LUMPUR, May 25 — The Agro Madani Sales programme, which was launched on April 16, offers savings to 1.8 million B40 and M40 households.
In a statement yesterday, the Agriculture and Food Security Ministry (KPKM) said that as of April 30, a total of 424 programmes involving 6,312 entrepreneurs with a total sales value of RM9.35 million had been organised.
“This year, KPKM plans to hold 900 Agro Madani Sales programmes nationwide, involving a total of 13,000 entrepreneurs with a target sales value of RM13.5 million,” according to the statement.
The Agro Madani Sales programme, held in strategic and selected locations, is a rebranding of the Direct Sales from Farm (JTDL) programme implemented by KPKM through the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama), the Farmers’ Organisation Board (LPP), and the Fisheries Development Authority of Malaysia (LKIM).
The programme seeks to improve the accessibility and availability of selected fresh products to consumers at a price that is 10 to 30 per cent less than the market.
Fresh vegetables, fruits, chicken, eggs, fish, cooking oil, flour, rice, and basic food products are among the items available.
The Agro Madani Sales programme demonstrates the Unity Government’s concern for ensuring that the plight of the needy is always protected in the face of the challenges posed by the rising cost of living, in line with Malaysia Madani’s framework.
