Jelajah Aidilfitri the biggest state prog after floods, Covid-19 — Exco

KAJANG, May 6 — Jelajah Kita Selangor Aidilfitri is one of the state government’s biggest programmes after facing various challenges like the Covid-19 pandemic and floods, said state executive councillor for infrastructure Izham Hashim.

He said the Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house programme provided an opportunity for members of the public to meet state leaders, following Selangor’s recovery.

“Selangor has gone through a challenging administrative phase and has been admittedly very stressed over several incidents. But with all levels of the state government, departments, civil servants and the people cooperating, we managed to pull through.

“We were the first state to provide free vaccinations and donations to frontline workers. In fact, we also helped the people in dealing with their debt payment problems, as well as distributing food baskets.

“Not too long ago, we were faced with floods, which caused much distress to the people. In spite of several weaknesses, we also managed to rise up and deal with the issues, asides from providing RM1,000 in aid to flood victims,” Izham said.

The councillor was speaking at the Jelajah Kita Selangor Aidilfitri event for Hulu Langat, at the Agora Night Market site in Taman Sri Nanding, yesterday night. State executive councillor for the environment Hee Loy Sian and state executive councillor for public health Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud were also in attendance.

Jelajah Kita Selangor Aidilfitri will continue this week at the Sungai Buloh pasar malam site for the Petaling district tonight, followed by Taman Perwira Sijangkang in Kuala Langat on May 7.

Later on, it will proceed to Dataran Tanah Lesen in Parit Baru, Sabak Bernam, on May 12, and Padang Awam Bukit Badong in Kuala Selangor on May 13.

The last open house is set to take place at Uptown Sri Gombak in Gombak on May 14, which will be attended by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Last week, the open houses took place in several other districts, beginning with Sepang, Hulu Selangor, and Klang.
