State agencies should use RS-1 as main guidance in policy direction — MB

SHAH ALAM, May 17 — The First Selangor Plan (RS-1) must serve as the main reference for state government agencies when they formulate the direction and development of policies or departmental programmes.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the five-year planning agenda includes strategies and initiatives which can drive the economy, as well as make Selangor an industrial centre and become a smart, prosperous, and livable state.

He added RS-1 is designed and planned to re-inject development, boost socioeconomic conditions, and safeguard the people’s welfare as a whole after dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic.

“RS-1 is a number of master papers against the background of various plans, including state development, infrastructure, industrial development, and public transport.

“It is an organised plan where we succeeded in working not only on the government’s master plan, but also on the development drawn up by the private sector in Selangor, without missing out on the content of the 12th Malaysia Plan,” Amirudin said.

The Menteri Besar was speaking at the presentation ceremony for the Outstanding Service Award, the Outstanding Service Medal 2022, and Anugerah Jasamu Dikenang 2023, to Selangor civil servants at Concorde Hotel yesterday.

He said utilising RS-1 as a reference is crucial in ensuring Selangor can remain a major contributor to the national economy since the state’s savings reserves have reached RM3.7 billion, the highest in 11 years.

“Our revenue collection performance has also been good, particularly in three consecutive years when our collection managed to surpass the set targets,” Amirudin said.
