‘Check your facts’, MB tells PAS on allegations against Malay reserve land issue

SHAH ALAM, June 15 — Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari has called for Selangor PAS to stop its slander and deception following the allegations made by the latter that the inefficient management of Malay reserve land by the Selangor Land and Mines Office, according to the Auditor-General’s Report, was not raised in the State Legislative Assembly.

In response to a post by @PASelangor on Twitter, the Menteri Besar said that the motion on the Malay reserve land issue was recently tabled and debated in the state assembly, as recorded in the official Hansard dated March 17, 2023, which he shared in a tweet.

“Selangor PAS should stop the slander and lies. (The) motion on the Malay reserve land in Selangor was tabled and debated in the Selangor State Legislative Assembly on March 17, 2023. This is the official Hansard.

“The one who did not debate (it) was the PAS state representative. Do not twist and deceive the people of Selangor!” the tweet read.

Amirudin said that the answer he provided to the state assembly stated that more than 80 per cent of the Malay reserve land was used for public infrastructure development, such as the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and highways.

He said that the state administration also revised the policy of the replacement of reserve land before 2020, which took into consideration the land value and size.

He said the state assembly was also informed that the replacement of land to develop KLIA in Hulu Selangor, covering an area of 1,221 acres, will be completed this year.

“It is best to fact-check, especially among their (PAS) representatives, before attacking, such as calling others a ‘coward’ but does not dare to ‘tag’ me for an answer,” he tweeted.

Earlier, Selangor PAS on a Twitter post alleged that the Pakatan Harapan-led Selangor government failed to replace 4,650 acres of reserve land and transferred 15 acres to non-Malays.

The party also slammed Harapan for being more interested in the recent debate of the Auditor General’s Report in Parliament than addressing the reserve land issue in the state assembly.

However, on March 17, the motion on the Malay reserve land was tabled by Bukit Melawati state assemblyman Juwairiya Zulkifli and debated by Sungai Panjang state assemblyman Datuk Mohd Imran Tamrin and Dengkil state assemblyman Adhif Syan Abdullah.

According to the state assembly Hansard, Sijangkang state representative Dato’ Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi, who is the Selangor PAS Commissioner, did not debate the motion.

Meanwhile, in the official Hansard on March 17, Amirudin said that the replacement of Malay reserve land in Selangor is now being carried out more efficiently with the replacement of larger areas compared to the processes 10 years ago.

He said that the current process ensures that the replacement of the land is equivalent in value, whereas the previous procedures were inconsistent, negligent, and slow.

He further stated that since Harapan took over the state administration, the approval for the replacement or revocation of reserve land cannot be made until the land replacement has been identified.
