SHAH ALAM, June 6 — Former Selangor menteri besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali has been challenged to defend his Bukit Antarabangsa state assembly seat that he has held since 2008 in the upcoming state election.
“If you are truly an anak jantan, contest and defend the Bukit Antarabangsa seat which you have served for three terms,” Selangor Keadilan information chief Halimey Abu Bakar said in a statement today.
Azmin, who lost in the Gombak federal seat in the recent general election, has been rumoured to contest in Morib in the coming Selangor poll, with recent polling result showing that the majority of voting channels in the constituency being in favour of Perikatan Nasional (PN).
It has been deemed that the Bukit Antarabangsa state constituency, which favours Pakatan Harapan, is no longer safe for him.
Halimey, who is Seri Setia assemblyman, said Azmin should stop daydreaming by fleeing in search of alternative seats.
“Perhaps, he is now fantasising and dreaming day and night about potentially returning as the Selangor menteri besar after losing his senior ministerial position at the federal level.
“He had also hastily announced that the date of the dissolution of the Selangor assembly would be on June 19,” he said.
Halimey also questioned the contribution of the Selangor PN chairman throughout his stint as the minister in charge of economy, particularly in resolving issues concerning inflation, value of the ringgit and overnight policy rate.
“The people and voters of Selangor will once again, in the coming state poll, be the judge of this leader who likes to daydream.”
Previously, it was reported that Amirudin is expected to seek an audience with the state ruler in the second half of this month to obtain his consent on the date of dissolution of the Selangor assembly.
