Families allowed to visit inmates on third, fourth day of Aidilahdha — Prisons Dept

KUALA LUMPUR, June — The families of all prison inmates will be allowed to visit on the third and fourth day of Hari Raya Aidiladha, and will also include moral rehabilitation centres, special rehabilitation centres, special detention areas and the Henry Gurney School.

The Prisons Department said in a statement today that Muslim inmates will be prioritised for visits, which will include face-to-face meetings and video calls from July 1 to July 3.

Families choosing face-to-face meetings need to comply with conditions, such as visiting hours from 8.15am to 4.15pm, having done an RT-PCR or ARTK-AG swab/saliva test that is valid for three days and are symptom-free.

The department also reminded visitors they are subject to the Prisons Regulations and Acts, which allow prisons to conduct physical inspections when visitors enter and leave the prisons.

Visits will only be permitted for those who make appointments via bookings on the i-Visit system at www.prison.gov.my, phone, email or physical letter to the prison.

“The institution will then set the date and session for the meeting after the booking is done and they need to contact the institution for further information,” it said.
