State polls: Only two seats not finalised in Selangor – Amirudin

SHAH ALAM, June 18 – Only two seats have not been finalised in the negotiations between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) for the upcoming Selangor state election.

Both seats will be referred to the central party leadership soon for further action, Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said.

“So far, 95 per cent of seat allocation talks are complete. (PH-BN) talks are done and only two seats have not been settled, which will be decided by the central leadership,” he told reporters after officiating the 2023 Selangor Mega Job Carnival here today.

There are 56 seats to be contested in Selangor. Elections will also be held in Penang, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu.

In another development, Amirudin said the state executive council meetings held since last Friday was to ensure that several matters including policy and administrative decisions could be resolved before the dissolution of the state assembly.

“We have completed the majority of outstanding issues and now only 67 working papers remain. When we took over, I remember there were over 200 pending cases that were not finalised.

He said following the 14th general election (GE14) in 2018, the state government only recorded an income of RM1.8 billion whereas the original target was up to RM2.4 billion.
