SHAH ALAM, July 26 — Pakatan Harapan’s candidate for the Sementa state constituency is determined to advocate for infrastructure development issues if she manages to clinch the seat in the upcoming state election.

Erny Afrishah Azizi, 25, said the issues concerning roads and drains, which were not resolved by the preceding state assemblymen, should be looked at so as to address the residents’ comfort.

“Previously, these issues were ignored by the representatives, so I want to fight for them. Since being entrusted as Sementa’s coordinator, I have been able to assist 12 villages in such matters,” she said when contacted.

A Sementa local, Erny also aims to meet the needs of youths and listen to their demands, even as she acknowledges it will be an uphill battle to win their hearts.

She believes the election will be the best opportunity for Harapan to recapture the seat after its incumbent state assemblyman left the coalition.

“Frankly speaking I am anxious, but this is a chance to revive Sementa. Despite being the youngest candidate, I am confident at being able to reclaim Sementa for Harapan, with cooperation from the party machinery,” Erny said.

She is one of the 20 Harapan candidates from PKR who is contesting in the state election starting from July 29 onwards.

During the previous state election which also ran parallel with the general election in 2018, Sementa was won by Dr Daroyah Alwi, who contested on the PKR ticket and secured 17,867 votes.

The nomination day for both Selangor and five other states is on July 29, with early voting on August 8 and polling on August 12.
