KUALA LANGAT, July 20 — The Kuala Langat Area Farmers’ Organisation (PPK) is taking steps to venture into poultry farming, so as to further develop the halal market.

The state executive councillor for entrepreneur development Rodziah Ismail said the construction of a RM1.5 million chicken coop in Mukim Batu, Tanjung Sepat completes the downstream ecosystem of the poultry farming industry, including the slaughtering and sales processes.

“This was carried out in collaboration with the Ramly Group and Unit Peneraju Agenda Bumiputera (Teraju), with the state government acting as a facilitator by providing planning facilities and electricity supply.

“This also aims to accommodate the demand in the Selangor chicken-based market, and beyond,” she said during her visit to the chicken coop project site yesterday.

Also in attendance was PPK Kuala Langat chairman A Razak Khasbullah, its general manager and the project’s poultry coop entrepreneur Ahmad Firdaus Abdul Halim, and Ramly Group director Siti Hayu Ramly.

On his part, Ahmad Firdaus said the closed chicken coop, encompassing 24,000 square feet, can accommodate approximately 30,000 broiler chickens per cycle, which is controlled by the Internet of Things (IoT) technology.

“The project will act as a catalyst for the development of the food and technology industry, particularly for farmers under the supervision of PPK Kuala Langat and throughout the nation,” he said.
