SHAH ALAM, July 25 — Parti Keadilan Rakyat’s Syed Ahmad Syed Abdul Rahman Alhadad, or more popularly known as Altimet, has vowed not to resort to cheap politicking to garner support in the upcoming state election.

Instead, the Lembah Jaya hopeful said he would be focusing on community and current issues as he bids to make his debut in the Selangor legislative assembly.

“I will not get involved in the endless game of politics,” the Ampang PKR division chief said in a statement today following his candidacy announcement on Saturday.

“The voices of the people of Ampang, particularly in this (Lembah Jaya) state constituency, need to be heard. Their concerns on local issues must be carried to the state and federal levels.

“I will focus my struggle on local issues like education, infrastructure and service improvements, economic advancement and youth development.”

Ahmad bemoaned how the public has been forced to put up with political rhetorics that are deliberately initiated by certain quarters for personal mileage.

“The theme of race, religion and royalty is being played up without any regard for what the people and country truly need at this moment,” he said, noting that the nation is still recovering from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, the 43-year-old rapper-turned-producer expressed his gratitude to Pakatan Harapan chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and state coalition chief Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari for entrusting him to contest in Lembah Jaya.

He said while the task ahead is not easy, he decided to take up the challenge based on the support shown towards him by party grassroots.

Selangor, along with Penang, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu, will hold their respective state elections on August 12, with the Election Commission fixing July 29 as nomination day.
