SHAH ALAM, July 3 — Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec) has launched the Selangor Accelerator Programme (SAP) 2023, offering a comprehensive range of support for selected startups.

The initiative, which is now into its sixth year, aims to foster innovation, support entrepreneurship and drive economic growth in the region.

It is open for applications starting today until August 4.

In a statement, Sidec said early-stage tech startups with innovative ideas and entrepreneurial drive are encouraged to apply and showcase their potential.

“The programme focuses on the vertical elements of artificial intelligence (AI), sustainability impact, healthtech, agritech, and biotech, reflecting the current and future trends in the smart city and digital economy domains,” it said today.

Among other things, SAP 2023 offers a three-month intensive and structured programme module, expert guidance and feedback, and networking opportunities and strategic partnerships to selected startups.

They will also be given an exhibition booth at the prestigious 8th Selangor Smart City and Digital Economy Convention 2023 on October 19 and access to a dedicated co-working space at Selangor Sandbox for a year.

Sidec noted that since its inception in 2018, SAP has proven to be a launchpad for various startups, nurturing over 150 such establishments, with an impressive 34 per cent of them succeeding in securing funding.

“Moreover, 70 startups have participated in overseas exposure and study trips, gaining invaluable international exposure and expanding their horizons.”

In the previous edition, SAP 2022, four top startups, namely Entomal Biotech, BlueDuck, Diet Ideas, and Swipey, secured funding within six months of completing the programme.

Sidec chief executive officer Yong Kai Ping said the agency remains committed to spearheading Selangor’s digital transformation as Asean’s digital hub and strengthening and growing the state digitalisation ecosystem for small and medium enterprises.

“SAP serves as a testament to that commitment by providing a unique opportunity for tech startups to accelerate their growth and innovation. Apply now for the SAP 2023 and join us in revolutionising the digital landscape,” he said.

SAP 2023 is backed by the state government and supported by Affin Bank Bhd as its main sponsor.
