Parents and guardians laud Kami Tuition Centre

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 15 — Kami Tuition Centre in Taman Sri Serdang, Petaling, which was launched Sunday, is set to serve underprivileged students.

Noraini Sharipudin, 42, a restaurant worker in Bandar Baru Bangi, said she will send her youngest son, fourth former Mohd Faris Muhd Iman, to the centre for additional coaching in preparation for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) exam.

“If I send him to this tuition centre, my burden will be reduced as I also have to support three other children who need tuition in the same subjects,” said Noraini.

She said she was planning to send her son to a tuition centre next year as he is weak in mathematics and history, but now she can send him to the government-funded Kami Tuition Centre.

“Thank you to the National Unity Ministry for coming out with this initiative. Since I can now send my child to this tuition centre, I will be able to use the money that has been saved for my other children’s tuition,” she told Bernama.

Private sector worker Siti Nur Amirah Ahmad Kamal, 28, will send her sister, Siti Hamizah, to Kami Tuition Centre next year to prepare her for SPM.

She said it is a good initiative as many from the B40 group are unable to afford tuition classes.

“We are not from a well-to-do family. My sister is now in Form 4 and will sit the SPM next year. There are times when learning at school is not enough, and tuition can help my younger sister focus more and gain deeper understanding (of her subjects),” said Siti Nur Amirah, who lives in Kajang.

Her sister, Siti Hamizah, said: “I can enrol for tuition in subjects I find difficult to focus on.”

Kami Tuition Centre in Taman Sri Serdang was launched yesterday by National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang.

The centre provides free tuition classes to underprivileged students, to realise the government’s aspiration to empower the people through quality education.
