PKNS, Matrade organise Selangor Export Day tomorrow, Thursday

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 22 — The Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) and the Malaysia External Trade Development Corp (Matrade) will organise Selangor State Export Day 2023 from August 23 to August 24 to help micro, small-and-medium-enterprises (MSMEs) expand into the international market.

In a joint statement, PKNS and Matrade said the event will assist the Selangor state government to develop more export entrepreneurs to complement the economy and support existing entrepreneurial policies. The event will be held at the Shah Alam Convention Centre.

“Six sessions will be held, including sessions to introduce finance and export insurance facilities to provide participants with the exposure to identify suitable banking partners and to know the importance of insurance guarantees for the export business,” the statement said.

Matrade will also conduct forums to facilitate information on export solutions such as eTrade, the Matrade Digital Trade Platform, and MyExport programmes as well as Matrade Digital Learning to assist companies explore international markets and to identify e-trade business platforms.

PKNS chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Mahmud Abbas hoped entrepreneurs who are interested in making forays in the export market would participate and contact the entrepreneur development division for information.

Matrade CEO Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz emphasised that the Selangor State Export Day is an outreach programme to raise more export entrepreneurs, especially in Selangor.

The programme is based on the holistic objective to provide basic information about exporting as well as (the types of) government assistance and services provided by players in the export ecosystem.

“The programme will be held in Terengganu in September, followed by Pahang, Johor and Melaka in October.

“The Export Day to be held in other states is still under discussion at the respective state governments,” he said.

Matrade is targeting a minimum of 200 participants from every state comprising companies under the state governments and local state agencies.

Deputy CEO (exporter development) Abu Bakar Yusof urged MSMEs to register with Matrade and undergo the Export Readiness Assessment Tool to assess their potential and readiness to export their products or services.
