SHAH ALAM, Aug 19 — Two additional river monitoring stations (RMS) are currently being constructed in Selangor, in order to provide early warnings of potential pollution.

The development of the RMS’ at Sungai Guntong and Kambing Susu by Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd, in cooperation with the Selangor Water Management Authority (Luas), is scheduled for completion by January 2024.

Luas said once construction is done, the respective stations will undergo testing and validation before commencing full operation.

“Earlier on, both parties signed a memorandum of understanding to construct three RMS, including the one at Sungai Garing which is currently undergoing network configuration to Air Selangor’s server.

“These stations will function as data capture infrastructure for water quality, positioned at the upstream intakes of the water treatment plants,” it said in a statement to SelangorKini yesterday.

Luas added that nine water quality telemetry stations are already operational, while six more are undergoing maintenance.

“The data captured by these stations will be shared with Luas’ Integrated Water Resources Management Systems (IWRIMS),” it said.
