China Open: Yew Sin – Ee Yii, Aaron – Wooi Yik to meet in quarter-finals

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 7 — At least one Malaysian men’s doubles pair will enter the semi-final stage of the China Open badminton championships in Changzhou, as Ong Yew Sin – Teo Ee Yii and Aaron Chia – Soh Wooi Yik face off in the quarter-finals tomorrow.

Ong – Teo defeated Denmark’s Rasmus Kjær – Frederik Søgaard 21 – 12, 21 – 17 while Chia – Soh triumphed over He Ji Ting – Zhou Hao Dong of China 21 – 16, 21 – 17 in the second round of the tournament at the Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium earlier today, to set up the clash.

Meanwhile, women’s doubles pairs Vivian Hoo – Lim Chiew Sien and Anna Ching Yik Cheong – Teoh Mei Xing bowed out in the second round of the tournament.

Hoo – Lim Sien lost to the second seeds from South Korea, Baek Ha Na – Lee So Hee 17 – 21, 14 – 21, while Ching – Teoh lost to Japan’s Rena Miyaura – Ayako Sakuramoto 11 – 21, 18 – 21.
