LZS distributes nearly RM480 mln for poor, asnaf

SHAH ALAM, Sept 1 — The Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) has distributed close to RM480 million to the poor and asnaf (tithe recipients) in the state so far.

It said this includes monthly assistance, education, emergencies, and various others.

“Almost RM480 million in zakat has been distributed to the asnaf, the poor, and the needy in Selangor.

“Even a small amount of RM10 that can be contributed as zakat can make a significant difference to the less fortunate,” LZS said in a Facebook post.

Meanwhile, it also said RM38.3 million in assistance has been distributed to approximately 67,788 recipients for educational and tuition needs this year.

The assistance is meant to boost the spirit of learning among the recipients, including the asnaf and the poor, covering tuition fees and school supplies.

“The awareness to improve one’s life begins with education. We thank Selangor’s residents who pay their zakat, as you have provided an opportunity to receive a better education,” LZS said in another Facebook post.

The board invited the public to fulfil their zakat obligations by visiting their website at fpx.zakatselangor.com.my.
