KUALA LANGAT, Sept 2 — Selangor reamins committed to supporting the Federal government’s initiative in the 100 Million Tree Planting Campaign by 2025, via efforts to plant over 200,000 trees in the state each year.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said doing so will ensure Malaysia’s greenery can be preserved, while aiming to achieve the goal of greening 54 percent of its land area.

“We are aiming to plant over 200,000 trees every year to support this effort. Similarly, we are also grateful for the involvement of His Royal Highness the Sultan of Selangor (Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj) and His Highness the Crown Prince of Selangor (Tengku Amir Shah) who have always graciously participated in tree planting programs,” he said.

Amirudin was speaking to the press after officiating the Fit Malaysia Selangor 2023 programme Gamuda Cove Central Park today.

The programme was attended by 11,000 participants and featured various activities, including a fun walk, a five-kilometer run, a trail ride, aerobic exercises, skipping rope challenges, and 14 fitness competitions.

During Fit Malaysia Selangor 2023, he also planted Borneo kauri (darma minyak) saplings to support the campaign.
