Lion’s share of MBI expenditure for free tuition, school aid

GOMBAK, Oct 18 — Most of Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) allocation goes to education programmes.

Its CSR head, Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor, said RM10 million had been allocated for the Selangor People’s Tutoring Programme (PTRS), school infrastructure assistance, and Parent-Teacher Associations (PIBG) management.

MBI’s overall RM30 million in funds is also extensively utilised for community programmes, mosques, prayer halls, and food basket donations to the needy.

“The education sector receives the largest portion, as seen in PTRS, involving RM7 million for study classes, teacher allowances, and student meals,” he said.

Ahmad Azri was speaking at the Bandar Selangor Community Economic Mobilisation Project’s (Mekar) opening ceremony at SMK Sungai Kertas in Batu Caves today.

He added that MBI aims to expand the provision of the Selangor General Insurance Scheme’s (Insan) coverage to school students in the event of of accidents or death.

“Last week, a secondary school student in Ampang tragically had an accident, and our team has been in contact with the family to initiate the claims process,” Ahmad Azri said.
