SHAH ALAM, Oct 25 — If you are a fan of nasi lemak, leave your stomach empty and your appetite high this weekend, as the National Unity Ministry is organising a dedicated festival in Shah Alam for one of Malaysians’ favourite foods.

Dubbed the Makan Sama-Sama (Edisi Nasi Lemak) — loosely translated to Eat Together (Nasi Lemak Edition) — the inaugural event will take place at CityWalk i-City from October 28 to October 29.

In a statement, i-City Properties Sdn Bhd said it will feature over 10 of the most popular nasi lemak in Malaysia, including Village Park Nasi Lemak, Akka Nasi Lemak, Pak Naser Nasi Lemak, and Nasi Lemak Vegetarian Ru Yi.

To encourage the public to try as many variations of the dish as possible, participating businesses will also sell Menu Rahmah dishes between RM1 and RM5.

Various other activities will be held, including ‘Sambal Smackdown’ and a children’s traditional costume fashion show.

In conjunction with the event, i-City Properties said visitors will also be allowed unlimited free entry into WaterWorld @ i-City from noon onwards.

“The water park is located just adjacent to the event site. Visitors just need to come prepared with their swimwear,” it said.

The free pass is part of the ‘One Shah Alam, One Destination’ initiative’s corporate social responsibility, jointly implemented by Central i-City Mall, DoubleTree by Hilton i-City, i-City, and Mercu Maybank.

“This program is based on the concept of ‘Oneness’.

“The collaborating partners aim to create a unified platform for every individual, community, and business in Shah Alam so Malaysians will continue to progress and preserve the country’s peace and harmony, in line with the concept of Malaysia Madani,” said i-City Properties.
