SUBANG JAYA, Oct 1 — More than 300 riders participated in the Selangor Criterium Series X Subang Jaya 2023 road cycling championship, organised by the Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) today.

Subang Jaya Deputy Mayor Mohd Zulkurnain Che Ali said the event, which involved various categories, was founded by the Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah.

“I would like to express my gratitude to Yayasan Raja Muda Selangor for collaborating with MBSJ, Subang Parade, Aeon Big, the police, and others, as without them, we could not have organised this event today.

“Today, we also have many national-level cyclists participating in this championship, which is a source of pride for the residents of MBSJ and Subang Jaya,” he said after the launching ceremony, with Seri Serdang state assemblyman Abbas Azmi in attendance.

Mohd Zulkurnain said MBSJ is prepared to organise the same championship next year, with several additional improvements.

“We will address any weaknesses to meet the standards of the International Cycling Union (UCI). We hope to get it on the UCI calendar and bring international cyclists to Subang Jaya,” he said.

The Selangor Criterium Series X Subang Jaya 2023 championship was held in conjunction with the 14th Subang Jaya Car-Free Day programme, which included over 20 leisure activities, competitions, demonstrations, exhibitions, and sales.

Some of the activities include aerobic exercises, leisure cycling, kite flying, free reflexology, mobile tax assessment counters, health and eye check-ups, and an exhibition of MBSJ’s compost fertiliser production.
