Selangor mosques, surau urged to hold ‘solat hajat’ for Palestine

SHAH ALAM, Oct 10 — The Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) has urged all mosques and surau in Selangor to hold the ‘solat hajat’ (prayer of need) and recite the ‘qunut nazilah’ (a supplication for Allah’s protection) for seven consecutive days to pray for the well-being of the Palestinians.

Its director Datuk Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad said the call was made to seek Allah’s help so that the Palestinian people would be given the strength to continue to defend the sovereignty of the holy land of Jerusalem from imperialism.

“JAIS strongly condemns the attack on Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. JAIS fully supports any action of the Palestinian people in defending their homeland.

“With the help of Allah and the prayers of all Muslims, may the Palestinian people attain victory and peace,” he said in a statement today.

The recent clashes in Palestine involving Hamas, the ruling authority in Gaza, and the Israeli regime have resulted in the loss of hundreds of lives on both sides since Saturday, Oct 7.
