SHAH ALAM, Oct 11 — The asset upgrading, maintenance and replacement works at the Sungai Langat Water Treatment Plant (WTP) have been completed, Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd announced today.
These works had previously led to water disruptions across several areas in the Klang Valley, including the Petaling, Kuala Lumpur, Hulu Langat regions.
In a statement, the state’s water management agency said it anticipates a complete restoration of water supply to the affected areas by 12pm tomorrow.
While the works have been completed, the company acknowledged minor on-the-ground technical difficulties..
“We are addressing these minor technicalities expeditiously. However, we have commenced the phased distribution of treated water to consumers via alternative routes,” it said today. .
The agency added that the water restoration timeline may differ across areas, contingent on the proximity and location of the consumer’s premises.
Separately, odour pollution in Sungai Selangor had forced a temporary shutdown of four WTPs yesterday, namely the Sungai Selangor Phase 1, 2 and 3, as well as the Rantau Panjang WTPs.
All four facilities have since been operational as of 4am yesterday, with water supply to be fully restored to affected areas by midnight. .
