Keadilan Youth urge immediate action against individual offering bounty on PM Anwar

PUTRAJAYA, Nov 26 — Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) has called for decisive action against a person who allegedly posted a TikTok video offering a RM5 million bounty for the assassination of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

During a press conference at the 2023 Keadilan National Congress in Putrajaya today, Keadilan Youth deputy chief Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim said there is a need for strong measures to deter threats against national leaders and to protect Malaysian society’s integrity.

“The recent trend of spreading hate instead of engaging in fact-based discourse is alarming. Without prompt and firm action, individuals may feel emboldened to act recklessly, believing they can evade consequences for their actions,” said Kamil.

The contentious video, reportedly uploaded by the user ‘jaiadani89’ on TikTok, has since been removed.

However, screenshots from the video have been widely shared on other social media platforms, sparking public outcry and demands for swift action against the individual involved.

Kamil revealed that Keadilan party members have already filed a police report at the Putrajaya District Police Headquarters (IPD), with additional reports expected following the congress.

The incident comes amidst increasing concerns about religious and racial extremism in Malaysia.

In his policy address at the party’s national congress last night, Anwar highlighted these issues, urging leaders of the Unity Government to foster a culture of tolerance and maintain communal harmony.
