Exco relying on community programmes to spread awareness of state initiatives

SHAH ALAM, Jan 4 — A special community outreach programme for residents of People’s Housing Projects (PPR) and old apartments will be held soon to help disseminate information related to state initiatives, said state executive councillor for housing Borhan Aman Shah.

Dubbed the Rewang Komuniti Strata, the programme involving state agencies will focus on the Klang Valley area, particularly around Ampang and Hulu Langat.

The two-day programme will include various activities, including a community cooking event in the evening and communal cleaning.

“The event will start with a congregational Subuh prayer and community sports. We will also organise an exhibition of state initiatives for residents’ information and benefit,” he said when contacted.

Meanwhile, Borhan, who is also in charge of Selangor’s culture portfolio, said the ‘Sons of Sidek’ exhibition currently taking place at the Sultan Alam Shah Museum will be among his primary focus in the first quarter of this year.

The exhibition, which began on November 1 last year and runs until April 30, is part of the state’s initiative to inspire the youth, especially those keen on badminton.

“It has thus far been met with encouraging response, with almost 5,000 visitors in the last two months. We expect it will receive over 10,000 visitors during its run.

“The opening ceremony will be held next week. What is more interesting is that it will be attended by national badminton legends, the Sidek siblings, namely Datuk Misbun, Datuk Jailani and Datuk Razif,” he said.

The collection of trophies, medals, pictures, and belongings of the late Datuk Sidek Abdullah Kamar’s children will be exhibited throughout the programme’s six-month duration.
