Jualan Ehsan Rahmah resumes on January 15 — PKPS

SHAH ALAM, Jan 7 — The Jualan Ehsan Rahmah (JER) affordable basic necessites sales programme, operated by the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS), will resume this year on January 15.

“JER will take a brief hiatus from January 1 to January 14, and will resume operations on Monday, January 15,” it said in a Facebook post.

The sales offer includes standard chicken at RM10 each, fresh solid meat (RM10 per pack), Grade B chicken eggs (RM10 per tray), mackerel fish (RM6 per pack), 5kg cooking oil (RM25), and 5kg rice (RM10).

On Tuesday (January 2), PKPS’ senior marketing manager Md Fazir Abdul Latif said the programme will be available at over 1,800 locations statewide this year.

The locations do not include the JER at various Segi Fresh supermarket branches on weekends.

PKPS has been recognised for its success in managing JER, such as receiving the Quality Management Award 2023 during the United Nations (UN) Climate Conference in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, last month.

It was also recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) in May last year for the largest subsidised chicken and egg sales during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration period.

Beginning in 2022, the state government launched JER, an extension of the Agro Prihatin Selangor programme which was introduced on June 2, 2021, via Pakej Kita Selangor 2.0. It was aimed at addressing the surplus of agricultural products due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The program was initially named Jualan Prihatin Rakyat on February 28, 2022, and its implementation was extended until July. On August 30, 2022, it was rebranded as Jualan Ehsan Rakyat.

Subsequently it was renamed again to Jualan Ehsan Rahmah after PKPS collaborated with the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry.

Yesterday, PKPS’ chief executive officer Mohamad Khairil Mohamad Razi said JER in over 1,000 locations throughout 2023 has resulted in RM30.8 million in sales value for the organisation.
