PKNS Tunas Niaga initiative rakes in revenue of RM2.48mln in 10 months

SHAH ALAM, Jan 10 — The Tunas Niaga Programme 2023 organised by the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) recorded a revenue of RM2.48 million within 10 months from March last year, through businesses set up by 1,225 young entrepreneurs from 49 secondary schools in the state.

PKNS deputy chief executive officer (corporate and entrepreneurship) Suhaimi Kasdon said the state agency was grateful to have been able to continue the programme since 1998 with the support of the Selangor State Education Department.

“PKNS continues to be committed to implementing the Tunas Niaga Programme initiative to boost entrepreneurship among the community, especially students, through exposure, guidance and training as well as encouragement to venture into business from the early stage towards producing knowledgeable and successful entrepreneurs,” he said at the 2023 Tunas Niaga convention here, today.

Suhaimi described the programme as successful as it attracted an encouraging participation of a total of 29,300 students, with the guidance of 2,344 teachers, and involved the establishment of 1,152 companies to date.

“Last year saw 1,225 participants, consisting of students from Form One to Five, with the guidance of 98 teachers from 49 selected secondary schools in Selangor.”

Suhaimi pointed out that the state level Tunas Niaga convention today was the right platform for PKNS to select the best companies through 10 award categories contested.

The Tunas Niaga programme aims to inculcate entrepreneurship skills among Bumiputera students especially in rural schools.
