SHAH ALAM, Feb 15 — The issue of poor waste management in 13 villages across the Bukit Melawati constituency has gotten the attention of Pakatan Harapan state assembly coordinator S. Thiban.
The Parti Keadilan Rakyat man said he has received multiple complaints regarding waste collection and disposal from residents there, as well as cases of open burning, and has vowed to resolve them in stages.
“I am in the midst of reviewing a number of immediate measures, including introducing a more efficient village waste management system, after consulting with various quarters. We are focused on ensuring the people’s welfare.
“Gotong-royong (community clean-up) activities with the Kuala Selangor Municipal Council are also part of our planning, in addition to providing scheduled waste collection services,” he said when contacted.
On the issue of the poor drainage system in Kampung Kuantan, Thiban said the infrastructural problem has been persistent for quite some time.
“Upon inspection, we found that the drain alongside the road has been in such poor condition for a long time. We will try our best to carry out cleaning and maintenance work in collaboration with the Irrigation and Drainage Department.
“Mobile water pumps will also be purchased and kept for emergency use,” he said.
On a separate matter, Thiban has invited entrepreneurs in the Kuala Selangor parliamentary constituency to join a hi-tea event and briefing session on financing and Tekun Nasional at ABZ Garden Hall, One Plaza Kuala Selangor on February 18.
