Dewan Rakyat passes Supply (Reallocation Of Appropriated Expenditure) Bill 2024

KUALA LUMPUR, March 26 — The Dewan Rakyat passed the Supply (Reallocation of Appropriated Expenditure) Bill 2024 today by a majority vote.

It was approved after the third reading by Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying after the committee considered the motion proposed without amendment.

The bill was tabled for a second reading by Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan and was approved at the policy level yesterday.

The bill seeks to provide for the reallocation from the Consolidated Fund of RM648,537,400 in 2024 for the services and purposes specified in the bill’s schedule.

The application for the reallocation is because several ministries have been reorganised and renamed, and several new ministries have been established, with their functions transferred from other ministries in line with the formation of the new Cabinet on December 12 last year.

The reorganisation also involves the transfer of agency programmes between ministries and requires the remaining programmes from the original ministry to be reorganised for new allocations.

The additional expenditure is requested for the Prime Minister’s Department, which amounts to RM64,912,200, the Public Service Department (RM21,673,000), and the National Unity Ministry (RM1,433,200).

The allocation is also for the Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Ministry (RM783,700), the Energy Transition and Water Transformation Ministry (RM340,087,300), the Communications Ministry (RM37,382,400), and the Digital Ministry (RM182,265,600).
