SHAH ALAM, Mar 18 — The Federal government has allocated a total of RM11.79 million for road repairs along the Klang-Banting-Sepang federal route as of February, with completion anticipated by October this year.

Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the allocation is designated for the periodic maintenance programme, which includes pavement and non-pavement maintenance, bridge maintenance, as well as the maintenance of street and traffic lights.

“These efforts encompass six periodic pavement projects, two non-pavement periodic works, and maintenance tasks for 11 street lights and traffic lights. All of these projects are expected to be completed by the end of October 2024,” he said in a written parliamentary reply.

According to Nanta, the routes involved include FT 5 Klang-Sepang, spanning 55.7km; FT 31 Jalan Banting-Semenyih (15km); and FT 32 Jalan Labohan Dagang-Nilai (10km).

“These are federal routes maintained by the concession company,” he said.

Nanta said in response to a question from Kuala Langat MP Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi regarding the progress of road upgrades along the main route of Klang-Banting-Sepang and whether these have been included into the road maintenance estimation (APJ).

The minister said based on the APJ for this year, the ministry has outlined plans for 17 periodic pavement projects totaling RM24.7 million, 31 periodic non-pavement projects valued at RM21.35 million, seven bridge maintenance projects costing RM3.6 million, and 18 maintenance for street and traffic lights amounting RM3.2 million.

“These projects are intended for the entire road network in Kuala Langat, Selangor,” he said.

Meanwhile, from 2021 to 2023, the ministry spent a total of RM17.77 million on maintenance works, which included 15 periodic pavement projects, nine non-pavement projects, two bridge maintenance projects, and 19 assignments related to street and traffic lights along the specified roads.

All works have been fully completed, Nanta said.
