SHAH ALAM, March 7 — The tabling of the First Selangor Plan (RS-1) mid-term review will be among the main agenda lined up for the next state assembly meeting, which is expected to be held in the middle of this year.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari confirmed this in his adjournment speech for the First Meeting of the Second Session of the 15th State Legislative Assembly today.

“Thank God, we have completed all the agenda listed for this meeting. We have also heard debates and discussions from assemblymen, together with the replies and responses from the state executive councillors.

“In the next meeting, God willing, we will focus on several items. First is the establishment of the selection committee. Second is on RS-1.

“There are also several other matters that will be outlined in the agenda, which we will finalise soon,” he said today.

Last October, Amirudin had said that the RS-1 mid-term review process will begin after the tabling and passing of the 2024 Selangor Budget in November.

He said the review would focus on creating and offering high-value jobs to Selangor residents and implementing several high-impact projects, including a new rail infrastructure from Klang to Kuala Selangor and Sabak Bernam, and developing a fully digitised third port in Pulau Carey.

In his winding-up speech for the 2024 Selangor Budget on November 20, the Menteri Besar said the review, which will take place this year, would also gauge if the state is able to achieve its target of contributing 30 per cent to the national economy by 2025.

He said a review is necessary to identify if any adjustment is required amid global economic challenges.

In his closing remark today, Amirudin also extended his Ramadan greetings to all those who will be observing the Muslim fasting month.

The current meeting was initially scheduled to be held for 10 days from February 27 to March 11, although it ended earlier after all orders of business had been completed.
