SHAH ALAM, March 24 — The Selangor government has recently established partnerships with several Taiwanese implementing agencies in artificial intelligence (AI) education and semiconductor manufacturing, said Ng Sze Han.

The state executive councillor for investment, trade and mobility said that the cooperation through five memoranda of understanding (MoUs) was implemented at the Smart City Summit and Expo in Taipei, Taiwan, which concluded yesterday.

“We signed five MoUs, including with the Taipei local authorities and several associations, to strengthen the AI technology and the semiconductor industry.

“We are committed to making significant progress in the field of AI. Additionally, the partnership will develop and train AI specialists in Selangor,” he said at a press conference after the groundbreaking ceremony for the PTT Logistics Hub 1 warehouse at the exhibition gallery of PTT Synergy Group Bhd in Bukit Jelutong, here today.

The 2024 Selangor Budget allocated RM1 million to establish the Selangor AI Centre to strengthen the state government’s service system further.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari had previously stated that Selangor is determined to take advantage of global prospects presented by developing technologies, as it does not want to fall behind.

Apart from the AI industry, the state administration also aims to promote the growth of drone technology by building hardware industries, with RM2 million allotted in the state budget.
