SHAH ALAM, March 18 — Two sections of the West Coast Expressway (WCE) in Selangor, namely Section 1 (Persimpangan Banting – SKVE) and Section 2 (Persimpangan SKVE – SAE), are expected to open in the second quarter of the year.

According to Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, as of January 25, the overall construction progress of the WCE project stands at 91.69 per cent.

“Section 1 (Persimpangan Banting – SKVE) and Section 2 (Persimpangan SKVE – SAE) are slated to open in the second quarter of 2024.

“Meanwhile, the remaining segments of Section 3 (Persimpangan SAE – NKVE FHR2) and Section 7 (Persimpangan Assam Jawa – Persimpangan Tanjung Karang) are currently under construction and are expected to be completed by the end of 2025, marking the completion of the entire WCE,” he said in a Parliament written reply in response to a question from Kuala Langat MP Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi regarding the WCE status.

Meanwhile, he said that another two sections in the state had opened to the public, namely Section 5 (Persimpangan NNKSB – Persimpangan Kapar), which opened in 2019, and Section 6 (Persimpangan Kapar – Persimpangan Assam Jawa) last year.

The ministry added that the WCE Highway spans 316 kilometres, with 233 km developed through privatisation under the concession company West Coast Expressway Sdn Bhd (WCESB), of which 83 kilometres have been completed and are currently operational under the supervision of the Public Works Department (JKR).
