SHAH ALAM, April 4 — The five-day Jualan Mega Ehsan Aidilfitri in conjunction with the upcoming Hari Raya celebration is being held at 18 locations statewide beginning yesterday, aimed at helping low-income households purchase essential goods.

State executive councillor for agriculture Izham Hashim said five main items, namely chicken, beef, eggs, cooking oil and rice, are being sold at subsidised prices, with a total allocation of RM296,439.

He said the programme is organised in collaboration with the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama), Koperasi Warga Hijrah Selangor Bhd (Kohijrah), and Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS).

“All 18 locations will be managed by the respective agencies. Fama is involved in nine locations, while Kohijrah and PKPS are involved in five and four respectively,” he said in a statement.

According to Izham, the sales programme, which will be participated in by 250 entrepreneurs, is expected to benefit some 250,000 people from 50,000 families.

He said throughout the five days, a total of 14,800 chickens will be made available, besides 6,100kg of fresh beef, 2,000kg of frozen beef, 9,400 trays of eggs, 3,976 bottles of 5kg cooking oil and 7,600 packs of rice.

During the programme, whole chickens will be sold at RM10 each, fresh beef at RM35 per kg, frozen beef at RM10 per kg, eggs at RM10 per tray, 5kg cooking oil at RM35, and 5kg rice at RM13.
