New Pilot Project to Reduce Waste in Sec 14

PETALING JAYA – A pilot project to house cleaning workers from 8 am to 8 pm is currently underway at the Section 14 Commercial Center here.

Bukit Gasing State Assemblyman (ADN) Rajiv Rishyakaran said the location was chosen because it was among the busiest areas and reportedly received the highest amount of waste, especially during peak hours.

According to him, the cleaning workers only does the work before the stores are opened for the day, but with the presence of this pilot project it allows the workers to stay at the same location until 8 pm.

“We note that although the bins are strategically placed in some locations, it does not solve the problem of waste,” he said.

“The cleaning workers are placed for 12 hours at the location to ensure the area will always be clean,” he added

Rajiv said the pilot project cost RM 10,000 a month.

“I hope that this project will have a positive reaction from the public and will continue in other locations in the city,” he said.
