Three water treatment plants in Selangor shut down after oil spill detected

SHAH ALAM, March 27 — Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) said that pollution from oil spill had been found at the source of raw water in Sungai Selangor, this morning.

In a statement today, the company said subsequently the three Sungai Selangor Water Treatment Plant Phase 1, 2 and 3 (LRA SSP1, LRA SSP2 and LRA SSP3) had to stop operations at 9.40 am today, after the detection of the pollution at 9.30 am.

“We have reported the contamination incident to the Lembaga Urus Air Selangor (Luas) and measures have been taken to ensure minimised impact on the consumers.

“At present, water supply is still provided to the consumers and any further developments will be communicated from time to time through several platforms including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and our website at www.airselangor.com,” the statement read, adding that the consumers are reminded to use water wisely.

The public is also urged to refer to the Air Selangor mobile app, which is available on the Google Play store and Apple App store.
