Smart Selangor Bus begin transporting Malaysians from airports to quarantine centres

By Nadiah Zamlus

SHAH ALAM, April 3 — The Selangor Smart bus has today begin its first mission in transporting Malaysians who have arrived at the airports from Chennai, India, to the designated quarantine centres.

State Local Government, Public Transport and New Village Development Committee chairman Ng Sze Han said the state government has provided 30 to 50 buses for the shuttle services.

“We hope that they will follow through health and safety measures. The public should also continue to adhere to the MCO as a show of support to those working in the frontline,” he told Selangorkini when contacted today.

On Wednesday, Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari had announced that the Smart Selangor bus will be used to transport Malaysians who are returning from overseas, upon their arrival at the airports, to the quarantine centres.

He said it was important for the state government to cooperate with everyone, including the Federal government, in fighting the Covid-19 outbreak, especially with Selangor being an entry and exit point of the country.

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob had the day before said that Malaysians who return to the country would immediately be quarantined for 14 days, beginning today.
